Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil (1,740m) – Tizi n’Mzik Pass (2,489m) – Tamsoult (2,250m)

  • Depart from Marrakech in the morning for a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Imlil, the gateway to the High Atlas Mountains.
  • Meet your guide and muleteers before setting off on the trek.
  • Hike through walnut and juniper forests towards Tizi n’Mzik Pass (2,489m), offering stunning views over Imlil Valley.
  • Enjoy lunch near the pass before descending into the beautiful Azzaden Valley, known for its red-hued mountains and terraced fields.
  • Arrive at the remote Berber village of Tamsoult (2,250m), where you will stay in a traditional mountain lodge or guesthouse.

Trek Duration: 5-6 hours
Elevation Gain: 749m

Day 2: Tamsoult – Ighouliden Waterfalls – Aït Aïssa (1,800m)

  • After breakfast, hike to the spectacular Ighouliden Waterfalls, one of the highest in the Atlas Mountains.
  • Continue trekking through the valley, passing grazing lands and traditional stone-built Berber homes.
  • Stop for a picnic lunch before arriving at the charming Berber village of Aït Aïssa (1,800m), where you will stay in a guesthouse.
  • Spend the afternoon exploring the village and learning about local Berber culture.

Trek Duration: 4-5 hours
Elevation Loss: 450m

Day 3: Aït Aïssa – Tizi Oudid Pass (2,200m) – Imlil – Marrakech

  • Begin the final leg of the trek with an ascent to Tizi Oudid Pass (2,200m), offering spectacular panoramic views.
  • Descend through the lush Matat Valley, passing terraced fields and walnut groves.
  • Arrive in Imlil for lunch before driving back to Marrakech in the afternoon.
