Best Time to Go

Spring & Autumn (April–June, September–November): Ideal weather conditions with mild temperatures and clear views.
Winter (December–March): Snow-covered peaks offer a stunning but more difficult trek, requiring proper winter gear.
Summer (July–August): Warmer temperatures but still an exciting trek, especially for early morning summits.

Difficulty Level

Challenging – Suitable for fit hikers with some trekking experience. The ascent is steep and requires endurance, but no technical climbing skills are needed.

Summer: Temperatures range from 10°C (50°F) at night to 25°C (77°F) during the day.
Winter: Can drop to -10°C (14°F) at night, with snow covering the higher elevations.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Marrakech – Imlil – Toubkal Refuge

Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech, followed by a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Imlil, a charming Berber village at the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your local guide and muleteer team before setting off on the trek.

Start trekking from Imlil (1,740m) toward the Toubkal Refuge.
Pass through the Aït Mizane Valley, enjoying stunning views of terraced fields and juniper forests.
Stop for lunch in Sidi Chamharouch (2,350m), a small village known for its shrine and waterfall.
Continue the ascent to the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m), where you’ll rest for the night.
Enjoy a warm dinner and prepare for the summit climb the next day.

Day 2: Toubkal Summit – Imlil – Marrakech

Wake up early for an exhilarating sunrise ascent to the summit of Mount Toubkal.

Begin the final ascent in the early morning (~4 AM) with headlamps lighting the way.
Climb through rocky terrain and reach the summit (4,167m) in time for breathtaking sunrise views.
Admire panoramic vistas stretching across the Atlas Mountains and the distant Sahara Desert.
Descend back to the refuge for a well-earned breakfast.
Trek down to Imlil, where your driver will be waiting for the return journey to Marrakech.
Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon.
